The Thurston County Drug Court Program is a court-supervised,
comprehensive treatment program for non-violent, adult felony
drug/alcohol and property offenders, whose crimes are related to or caused
by drug and/or alcohol addiction.
In 2008 Thurston County also began a DUI Court Program. This
therapeutic Court operates in tandem with the Drug Court Program utilizing
space, personnel, curriculum, etc. The DUI Court was introduced as a
result of the success of Thurston County's Drug Court and in response to the
statistics indicating that DUI Courts can produce the same kind of results
that reduce recidivism and save lives.
The mission of the Drug/DUI Court Programs is to protect public safety; break
the "revolving door" cycle of drugs and crime by holding participants
accountable and provide integrated treatment services with close supervision
and monitoring in order to systematically change behavior.
The primary goal of the programs is to support participants to achieve
healthy, positive, and satisfying lifestyles through total abstinence
from alcohol and drugs. The program is designed to promote
responsibility and accountability through opportunities to change
thinking, attitudes, and behavior.
